What's with these hunting magazine focusing in on long range hunting??? Shooting out to who knows what 875yds, 575yds,come on if I was Yote Huntin ok. But??? In my opinion if a guy stalking a trophy of a lifetime why wouldn't I at least cut that distance in half or more to in sure the 1 shot 1 kill. What about kinetic energy??? To me the hunt is about getting in close to get a clean kill. Who would want one of the custom guns, there a great shooting system in fact I'm working on getting one in the budget. I just don't have nothing to prove taking a shot at 1000 yards, when I can close the distance. Well I guess if I was out of shape then a long shot would be up my alley…

Agree. Not a fan of this practice. Not gonna get say a whole heck of a lot because I don't want to be the guy complaining about another guys methods of take. It's legal so what are ya gonna do?

It occurs to me at some point it becomes shooting more than hunting.

this is true with all methods bow, muzz, and modern. 10 years ago 50yds with a bow was a stretch but now guys are pushing 75 to 100yds. i believe if you dont keep up you are just handy caping yourself.if you can extend your range why not. its not just rifle hunters. im not saying its right or good but it is the future and im aboard.

Yes I here ya, but like you said there pushing it, its up to every hunter to make a ethical shot, and 75 to 100 yard are well out of my comfort zone. Maybe it I had a bow with custom limbs, and could pull back 100lb draw! I would need to hit the weights for awhile. As for me I'm happy shooting out to 60 with my bow. For the modern and smokepole ill stick with what's ethical. Everybody has their own views and as for me ill stick to the small bus…

Disagree. Just because the technology exists does not mean we should be using it for hunting.
