Just found this site not too long ago and am impressed. Came from Alaska via USAF and have been in ID for 8 yrs now and plan on retiring here (love ID).  To the point-from day one I fell in love with Mulies and they are my passion now. I train year round just so I can hunt hard and long, and in the past few years have aquirred all my high country pack equipment.  With each passing year I learn so much more about these awesome animals, by filming, shed hunting, and everything in between.  I'm pleased to say I drew a 40 tag this year, pumped is more like it!  In recent years I've been able to connect on solid 150 inch deer, but now im looking for something in the 190s and poss 200.  I have considerable access to land and seen some studs while coyote hunting, but if anyone is willing to throwdown some solid advice that would be great.  I'm looking at this as a once in a lifetime hunt, and am taking the entire 24 days off.  I just want to make this count.  Good luck to all

My dad drew a Unit 40 tag as well, he lives up North and plans on coming down once or twice to scout but mostly it will be up to me, any tips, tricks, advice would be greatly appreciated, I know very little about the area or hunting conditions.

When is a good time to start spending some time out there looking for deer? Do they stay in the area even when it's hot like this?

I've heard great things on this area and have spent sometime doing research on this area. unfortunately 0 hours in the field there. my father won the super combo tag this year and running through the eastmans #'s on both big mule deer and massive bulls seemed to only confirm all the chatter we've heard about the area. in talking to fish and game and some hunters that are familiar with the area i know of a few destinations, or starting points for you. we have decided to pass on the area due to time constraints and other options, though we may take a drive around the triangle road area to see the layout in person. good luck to both of you, enjoy the hunt!
